Beyond TV "Video on the NET - Spring VON 2007"
Beyond TelCO-TV and or CableCO-TV
One point I want to comment regarding IPTV is that it will not be, how the TelCOs and CableCOs envisioned or want to lead us to accept or believe.
In my mind we should shy away from trying to replicate IPTV in terms of how normal TV is being broadcasted or programmed today.
We now have an opportunity to incorporate multi-modes of communication, new pull/push protocols, new commerce and ads business models and various ways to view and participate (online/mobile/wireless) in the event.
If continue to refer to it as "TV on the internet", soon the unwilling (telCos - cableCos) partners will begin to regulated as TV.
While in reality it is something radically different, offering "Rich(experienced and content) Multimedia Video" and not just TV.
Let us not not allow us to be boxed or limited by yesterday standards and business model.
Let us chart new innovative means of (ip based applications) communications that leverage rich content multimedia.
